Asia Leaders Awards Cocktail Hour with RS Francisco

For this year, Asia Leaders Forums and Awards will present the exemplary leaders in the Philippines with a twist, to discuss anything under the sun, their advocacy and passion. No more of those mind setting heavy presentations about the usual business scenario or discussions about their companies, we have a global health crisis, we’re in a survival mode. An inspiration is what we need.

Young Leaders Who May Inspire You Create a Better World

This global health crisis made us more human. That our body has its capacity while our mind is limitless. This is the time that we saw new leaders, not only that they are determined, fierce and aggressive but also with a heart for giving as proven by the initiator of community pantry in Magingawa street in Quezon City and now emulated by hundreds of young leaders around the nation.

Bang Bang Bangus: Crispy Boneless Bangus Delivered To Your Doorstep!

These past few months, I have been an avid customer of online delivery. I think it has also been a new normal to most families since the pandemic began. I've tried fast food, pizzas, milk teas, you name it. But there are times I crave for seafood. I was able to order tempura, squid rings, and sashimi, but sometimes I crave for seafood that I could eat with rice.

Now, I am happy to discover Bang Bang Bangus! They offer special crispy bangus that's already flavored to perfection! Their bangus is made with Bang Bang's signature breading and glaze topped with toasted garlic and cilantro.

Bang Bang Bangus
They delivered the bangus in a box. The Lalamove guy thought it was pizza.

I was very fortunate to try their original flavor.  The fish came with classic Pinoy side dishes namely laing and pinakbet. The moment I opened the box, I can really smell the delicious garlic!

GlamHigh Cosmetics CEO and UA&P ANIMA Member Donates Essentials for Indigents

If we’re going to check our history, the young generation are usually the ones starting the revolution. In this day and age, the revolution is about sending food to those in need via community pantries.

One student of University of Asia & the Pacific and an ANIMA member chose to give something back to the community in the eve of her birthday.

Countries United: Meet the Asia Leaders Awards 2021 Awards Committee

The largest in Asia Pacific, Asia Leaders Awards is all about hope and optimism this year. Showing how these leaders are reaching out to others to give back and at the same time bouncing back big time not just for their own organisations but for the community.

Real Leaders Emerge in Times of Crisis

By this time, we thought we experienced all already, then came this global health crisis, a modern day pandemic and nobody is prepared.

Most industries are struggling or closing down due to mandates of the national government, a business crisis that we didn’t predict. What governments, corporations, hospitals, schools, and other organizations need now, more than ever, are “real leaders” — people who in spite of their own challenges are exerting effort to help us overcome the limitations, weakness and fear and get us to do better, harder things than we can get ourselves to do on our own. These are the leaders with a heart of gold, maybe part of their genes or forged to do better even in Pandemic. Leaders who acted in the face of great uncertainty, real danger, and collective fear.

Coffee That's Really Good For You: Glorious, Isn't It?

I love coffee. Before I start my day or even before I end it, I always have a cup of coffee with me. Little did I know that for decades, coffee had received a bad reputation. Besides allegedly triggering high blood pressure, insomnia, and hyperacidity, the Filipino habit of adding lots of sugar and cream to one’s cup has been said to aggravate diabetes.

It’s no surprise that during this COVID-19 pandemic, kids, teens,  and even adults are more into mobile games or online pc  games. To some, it is their method of passing time since they’re unemployed, no school, or simply got nothing to do. But for others, it is their way to socialize to other people especially their friends who plays the same game. According to an article in BBC, online gaming has become a social lifeline.

Memorya at Resistensyang MaluFIT sa Batang Bio-Fit!

It’s been a year since Metro Manila has been under community quarantine and that also means children have been having online classes ever since. One of the struggles that we had during online classes is my kids’ attention span. When the teacher is having her lesson online, my kid would often yawn when she doesn’t understand the topic and begins to play around or draw on the paper. It’s one of many struggles my kid experiences during online classes.

Emergency Kit Must-Haves For Each Family Member

Photo from redcross.org

Here in the Philippines, we would often receive the loud alarm in our mobile phones from National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) whenever there's a disaster going to occur near our area. And when I hear the alarm, I initially panic. In the past, we've received those alarms when there's a typhoon moving towards us or an earthquake nearby. We’ve already got our fair share of typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and most especially flood. It is inevitable that these natural disasters would happen again, the vital question is when. So before these disasters strike, we need to be prepared for them to prevent fear and panic that could lead to more harm.

Household Saving Habits to Adopt During the Pandemic

Financial fragility is a real thing for me, even more so now during the COVID-19 pandemic. This means an unexpected expense as little as P200 ($4) can cause a month’s financial struggle. Therefore, it is really important that households start adopting solid saving habits, so they can avoid falling into financial burden in the future. With that in mind, here are three habits to get you started:

All About Shapewear

I believe despite the COVID-19 pandemic, women still need shape wears especially those who gave birth or simply those who want to enhance the shape of their body’s natural curves. I remember Bridget Jones’ shapewear from the movie, Bridget Jones’ Diary whenever shape wear was the topic of the conversation. Though shape wear is not new to me because my mom also uses it, I’m now just starting to appreciate its benefits to my body since I’m nearing my 40s.

Room and Butler: Professional Skin Clinic for the Modern Man

Skin and body health goes hand in hand. How so? For one, skin is the body’s first layer of defense. It is also the biggest organ of a human. Ultimately, skin is the first to give us clues on the status of our body’s overall health. For example, we get a skin rash when we ate something that does not mix well with our stomach or our immune system. Convinced yet? In many ways than one, our skin is our body’s protection. According to NIH Dermatologist Dr. Heidi Kong, skin provides a barrier for our body against bacteria and different other environmental hazards which can be dangerous for human health.

A Simple Lola Remedios Review

I  keep seeing the ad of Lola Remedios at home and I got curious as to what the product is actually for. The ad also said that if you feel “nilalamig” or a chill in your body and you’re feeling weak, this is the product you should drink. It caught my interest because I am one of those people who experiences the “chill” feeling especially during my hormonal imbalance that usually happens in-between periods. As a result, I bought one sachet to try it out.

Now, we have a name for this – itch-uations. How does it feel to finally be in terms with the fact that you’ve been having itch-uations even before it was a thing? Embarrassing, right?

Constantly Tired? You May Be Experiencing A Case of Iron Deficiency Anemia

What happens to your performance and immunity when your Iron-deficient

Productive people have one thing in common, they ward off feelings of constant exhaustion and drowsiness thinking these are just the result of their hectic lifestyles. They carry on with day-to-day activities even when they experience the inability to focus and perform and not realizing that this might be a symptom of Iron Deficiency Anemia. I am personally guilty of this simply because I need quotas to finish and deadlines to meet.

Iron deficiency anemia happens when your blood has lower amount of red blood cells or hemoglobin  than  normal.1  This  can  cause  you  to  feel  weak,  tired,  dizzy,  look  pale,  and experience headaches. People with chronic medical conditions, women in the reproductive age group and those who experience heavy menstrual bleeding are most vulnerable in having anemia. While those who are not able to maintain a healthy lifestyle are also at risk.

How to prevent Iron Deficiency Anemia?

The people who have higher risk to have iron deficiency anemia are women in the reproductive age group and those who experience heavy menstrual bleeding; athletes in endurance sports and high-altitude training that require the body with more red blood cells; and those with pre-existing chronic diseases. 2

A change in diet and nutrition comes as the first step. This can include choosing food with high iron content like poultry, meat, and seafood. Eating food rich in Vitamin C like fruits and dark green leafy vegetables can help enhance iron absorption.

For people with erratic schedules, managing a diet can pose as a challenge. Taking Multivitamins+Minerals (Sangobion IRON+) can help keep iron deficiency anemia away as it helps the body get the nutrients and minerals it needs.

Multivitamins + Minerals (Sangobion IRON+) is an iron supplement with vitamins and minerals that helps replenish iron stores and increase red blood cell levels in the body.3 It has ferrous gluconate, a type of iron salt which has better absorption in the body, Folic acid, and vitamin B12, which are vital for production of red blood cells. It also contains Vitamin C which helps improve iron absorption, and Copper sulphate and manganese sulphate that helps in the metabolic processes of blood cell production.

How Iron sufficiency plays a part in maintaining strong immunity

Micronutrients have an important role in regulating immune function, metabolism, and enzymes. Iron is an essential micronutrient that is needed by the enzymes to help maintain body immunity which can help protect the body against infection.

There are certain enzymes in white blood cells that are affected by the iron levels in the body. So, when Iron is deficient, the levels of enzymes in white blood cells are also reduced, and this can affect the body’s ability to fight off infections.

When you live an action-packed lifestyle, even when you’re just working from home but juggling multiple responsibilities, do not ignore the constant feeling of exhaustion. Fulfilling your daily intake of Iron can help support your body as you go through your daily activities.

Maintaining a healthy and nutritious diet, practicing various exercises, and taking Multivitamins+Minerals (Sangobion IRON+) which acts as an iron supplement, can help manage symptoms or prevent Iron Deficiency Anemia.4

If symptoms persist, consult your doctor.
