Easy Baked Sea Bass Fish Recipe from Sarangani Bay

I was very fortunate to try Sarangani Bay's Sea Bass or Apahap fish because to be honest, I don't even know what Apahap is. All I know is Bangus, Tilapia, Maya-Maya, Galunggong, and all other common fishes. I didn't know that Apahap could be so tasty and resilient, too, where you can do a lot of dishes out of it.

Sarangani Bay's Sea Bass (Apahap)
Each fish is freshly sealed and underwent quality checking so it's guaranteed fresh.

Apahap fish is really big, similar to the size of a milk fish (Bangus). We had no idea what to do with it so I checked @Kusina_Sarangani's IG page and there we found a Baked Paksiw dish using a different fish. We thought maybe baking the Apahap would be a nice, but using simpler ingredients. That's how we thought of the baked Sea Bass dish.

Easy Baked Sea Bass

Ingredients:

1 whole Sea Bass (Apahap) fish
1 cup white wine
2 pieces of lemon (Sliced)
1 pound of celery stalks (sliced)
salt and pepper
*you will also need a baking dish

We used 2 Sea Bass fish. Just place everything in the baking pan as seen on this picture.

How to Cook:

(Pre-heat oven at 180 degrees)

1. Place the fish on a baking dish and then rub salt and pepper to both sides of the Sea Bass fish.
2. Add the celery stalks on the fish.
3. Place the lemon slices on top of the fish and on the sides.
4. Pour the white wine on the fish.
5. Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes at 180 degrees.

Enjoy!

Baked Sea Bass all cooked!

I was actually surprised that it didn't smell bad unlike when you cook Paksiw, you could really smell the strong vinegar smell. Well, we didn't use any vinegar in this dish so that's probably why. My sister thought they could cook this in a condo because the smell won't bother the neighbors.

Finished! Easy Baked Sea Bass dish!

The taste is quite similar to Paksiw, but lighter. The fish has a sweet and a bit tangy taste. I'm really glad the entire family loved it very much - perfect for Mother's Day!
